(Harry Osborn\u2019s character debuts in the same issue!)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Gwen is portrayed as a super <\/span>smart, strong-willed and opinionated girl<\/span><\/b> who falls in love with Peter Parker.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The two meet as undergraduates at Empire State University where they\u2019re both known for their superior intellect.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Gwen and Peter don\u2019t get together immediately, though.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She briefly dates both Flash Thompson and Harry Osborn to make Peter jealous, and Peter gets involved with Mary Jane Watson, but eventually, Gwen and Peter start dating.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Although Gwen often acts tough and makes it known when she doesn\u2019t like someone, she\u2019s always very sweet with Peter and lets her soft side show around him.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While Stan Lee wanted to keep Gwen as Peter\u2019s main love interest, original readers wanted to see Mary Jane\u2019s character next to Peter. They all come<\/span> together to fight a common enemy<\/span> called <\/span>the<\/span><\/b> Inheritors<\/span><\/b> \u2014 a group of beings that feed on the life force of those with spider powers.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Inheritors begin hunting down and killing various <\/span>Spider-People<\/span><\/b> from different universes. To keep them and protect her universe from the evil incarnation of <\/span>Matt Murdock<\/span><\/a>, i.e., <\/span>Daredevil<\/span><\/a>, she <\/span>bonds with a Venom symbiote<\/span><\/b> that exists in her reality.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To defeat Murdock and expose his schemes to the world, she reveals her true identity. She gets sentenced to jail after she\u2019s falsely accused of murdering the version of Peter Parker that exists on Earth-65, and for the chaos she committed when she couldn\u2019t keep the Venom symbiote under control.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n However, the problems with the symbiote start to reappear, and Gwen decides to go to Peter Parker on Earth-616 and ask him for help.
