The harder the lead the less it smudges, so an H pencil is the best choice for outlining.<\/li>\n<li><strong>An HB pencil:<\/strong> This type of pencil represents the middle ground. The lead is neither too dark nor too soft. An HB pencil is the best choice when softly shading your hair drawing and adding details to the sketch.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A kneaded eraser:<\/strong> The reason we always recommend using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.craftsy.com\/post\/types-of-erasers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kneaded eraser<\/a> is that you can stretch and compress them however you like, so you have better control over the lines you wish to erase. Its <strong>length marks how much volume<\/strong> the hair has. Since we\u2019re drawing the hair with a <strong>side parting<\/strong>, there\u2019ll be more hair on the left side than on the right, hence the bigger volume.<\/p>\n<p>Then, draw a slightly <strong>curved line toward the crown of the head<\/strong> \u2014 that\u2019s the very top part of your head.<\/p>\n<p>From there, draw a wavy line toward the girl\u2019s neck. The line should resemble the fish\u2019s back, with the end gently turned outwards. Notice how we placed the line for about one-third of the head\u2019s width upwards, closer to the head crown. Since this is a layered hairstyle, this strand should be slightly shorter than the one in front of it.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Add Texture<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Recommended pencils:<\/strong> an H and HB pencil<\/p>\n<p>When you have the hair outline ready, adding texture becomes easier.<\/p>\n<p>You should <strong>follow the shape of contours<\/strong> and make the strands shorter the closer they are to the face.<\/p>\n<p>Start from the right side and draw the hairs that are framing the face first.
