Some people have wider, others pointier and narrower tips, so feel free to draw the shape you like.<\/p>\n<p>However, no matter the shape you draw, <strong>make sure the bottom is wider than the top!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>2. Illustrate The Dorsum<\/h3>\n<p>Next comes drawing the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elementsofmorphology.nih.gov\/anatomy-nose.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dorsum<\/a> of a nose<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This is just a fancy word for the nasal ridge, i.e. the longest part of your nose that connects the tip to the root.<\/p>\n<p>Now, most people have some kind of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/dorsal-hump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dorsal hump<\/a> on their noses, so their <strong>ridges aren\u2019t straight<\/strong>. But even without a hump, the area above the tip of the nose shouldn\u2019t be a straight line. That\u2019s the area between and a little below your eyebrows!<\/p>\n<h3>3. Add The Wings Of The Nose<\/h3>\n<p>Did you know that your nose has wings?<\/p>\n<p>Like the kiwi bird, it can\u2019t use them to fly, but it does have them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The nasal wings are the rounded bits on either side of your nose tip.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People often incorrectly refer to the nasal wings as nostrils. Sketch The Nostrils<\/h3>\n<p>Once the nasal wings are in place, it\u2019s time to add the nostrils.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, did you know that you <strong>breathe in around <a href=\"https:\/\/lcf.org.in\/lung-basics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11,000<\/a> liters of air every day<\/strong>? That\u2019s about 2,900 gallons!<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, alongside air, you may also breathe in some unwanted guests, like <a href=\"https:\/\/2023.biowars.com\/blog\/how-do-viruses-spread\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">viruses<\/a> and pollen. Luckily, your nostrils are lined with tens of thousands of tiny hairs that safeguard the entrance into your body and prevent germs from freely waltzing inside. Shade The Nose<\/h3>\n<p>See how easy it is to draw a nose? It took you just <strong>four steps to finalize the outline!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, let\u2019s make your nose drawing more realistic, shall we?<\/p>\n<p>First, go over the outline to make the lines darker and more prominent.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <strong>add dimension to the drawing with shading<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Before you shade the nose, decide where the source of light is.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine that the light is shining on the left side of the nose from above.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no need to go over the top with shading, especially when you\u2019re still learning the basics of drawing the nose.<\/p>\n<p>Simply add some <strong>thick shade along the nose ridge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <strong>add shade to the left nose wing and make the inside of the nostrils dark<\/strong>. Draw The Tip<\/h3>\n<p>No matter the angle you opt for, the first thing to draw when illustrating a nose is its tip.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the tip\u2019s shape is slightly different from the side than it is from the front.<\/p>\n<p>From the side, <strong>the tip of the nose is narrower and its right angle is slightly sharper than from the front<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the nose shape you wish to illustrate, draw the tip as sharp or as rounded as you like. You\u2019ll emphasize its size later on when shading the sketch!<\/p>\n<h3>4. Make sure it\u2019s not straight and <strong>slightly curve it outwards<\/strong>, like Gon\u00e7alo does.<\/p>\n<p>Next, draw a short, curved line from the tip upwards.<\/p>\n<p>Both of these lines help you <strong>add structure<\/strong> to your nose drawing!<\/p>\n<h3>5.
