To do that, you should just connect the lines you drew earlier when deciding how full the mouth should be, i.e., connect the top and the bottom of the lips.<\/p>\n<p>The top point of the line marks <strong>the dip of Cupid\u2019s bow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, do you know why we call this part of our lips the Cupid\u2019s bow?<\/p>\n<p>Cupid is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/news\/who-is-cupid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roman god of love<\/a>. He\u2019s usually depicted as a chubby, cherub-looking baby with wings and a bow that fires arrows at others to make them fall in love. You\u2019ve probably seen Cupid on Valentine\u2019s Day cards.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, some people say that the shape of your upper lip, with <strong>curved corners and the dip in the middle looks just like Cupid\u2019s bow<\/strong> hence why we call it that way. These lines that separate the mouth from the rest of your face are called the <a href=\"https:\/\/elementsofmorphology.nih.gov\/anatomy-oral.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>vermilion border<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the color of the lips differs from one person to the next, the vermilion border marks the space where the color of the lips ends and the color of the face begins.<\/p>\n<p>After you finish illustrating the Cupid\u2019s bow, it\u2019s time to add a small dip in the middle of the line where the upper and lower lip meet, class=\"wp-caption-text\">You\u2019ve now finished the outline for the upper lip!\u200b<\/p><\/div>\n<p>You don\u2019t want the line in the middle to be straight because the mouth then won\u2019t look realistic!<\/p>\n<h3>Step #4: Sketch The Lower Lip<\/h3>\n<p>Once you\u2019re done sketching the upper lip, drawing the lower lip comes easy.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing you want to do is go over the <strong>bottom of the lower vermilion border<\/strong> and make it more pronounced, just like Gon\u00e7alo did:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17500\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption drawing and make it more realistic, let\u2019s enhance some of the details of your sketch.<\/p>\n<h3>Step #5: Shade Your Mouth Sketch<\/h3>\n<p>We suggest you pick up your <strong>HB pencil<\/strong> and use it to <strong>go over the final outline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, erase all the lines that no longer belong to your mouth drawing.<\/p>\n<p>The next thing you should do is <strong>shade your illustration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to go overboard, but adding even just a little bit of shadow will make the mouth look realistic.<\/p>\n<p>Using your <strong>B pencil<\/strong>, you could add a bit of shadow right below the center of the lower lip.
