Last week we looked at just a few of the comics we can\u2019t wait to see in 2015 (not counting Biowars<\/a>, of course, which will be back!). Here are a few more we\u2019re looking forward to reading.<\/p>\n

Convegence #0 (DC, April 1)<\/span><\/h2>\n

This promises to be big. And it\u2019s not an April Fool\u2019s joke. All<\/i> of DC\u2019s superhero comics go on hold for two months, starting in April 2014, with an incredible 40 miniseries dropping in April and May, and episode zero (of nine) of Convergence\u00a0<\/em>coming out on April 1.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re not familiar with DC history, Convergence <\/i>is going to take some explaining. Brainiac, a supervillain and frequent Superman nemesis, is in the habit of shrinking cities and stealing pieces of them. In Convergence<\/i>, he makes off with pieces\u00a0of the old DC universe (which was rebooted<\/a>\u00a0in 2011) ranging across different eras of comic books. Putting all these pieces on one planet, he mixes them up to see what happens. One event\u00a0we know will\u00a0happen is the appearance of a new bad guy, Telos. DC\u2019s Jim Lee describes<\/a> this as \u201cthe most meta epic event we’ve done,\u201d so there\u2019s a lot to take in. Although the point of Convergence <\/i>is that all of this happens outside time and space\u2014and therefore outside the usual DC universe\u2014there\u2019s a lot<\/a> of discussion<\/a> about how all this will fit into the DC story in the future.<\/p>\n

Spider-Gwen #1 (Marvel, February 25)<\/span><\/h2>\n

Gwen Stacy has been around since 1965, and perhaps is best known for her murder by the Green Goblin\u2014one of the most dramatic and important moments in comic history. But it didn\u2019t have to be that way\u2014in this series\u00a0Gwen Stacy is Spider-Gwen, with a girl band and the determination to fight crime. First appearing in the Edge of Spider-Verse<\/i>, in 2015 she\u2019s back on her own.<\/p>\n

ei8ht #1 (Dark Horse, February 18)<\/span><\/h3>\n

According to its creators<\/a>, the Meld is a place out of time where things go when you lose them\u2014from your car keys to the dinosaurs. A chrononaut from the future named Joshua ends up in the Meld while on a time-traveling assassination mission: he\u2019s agreed to kill someone to save his wife from a disease. Needless to say, nothing in the Meld is going to be that easy, and Joshua\u2019s first concern is staying alive. ei8ht <\/i>is the baby of Brazilian artist Rafael Albuquerque, and is something of a remake of his earlier webcomic Tune 8<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Ivar, Timewalker #1 (Valiant, January 21)<\/span><\/h3>\n

Featuring previously in Valiant\u2019s Archer & Armstrong<\/i>, Ivar,\u00a0described<\/a> as \u201chistory\u2019s most jaded, most tempestuous time traveler,\u201d is an adventurer who follows time arcs whenever they open up, wherever they go. In this new comic<\/a> he\u2019ll need to stop a brilliant physicist from discovering the secrets of time travel\u2014and ruining the whole universe in the process.<\/p>\n

The Empty #1 (Image, February 11)<\/span><\/h3>\n

An intriguing title from Image. There\u2019s not much to go on at the moment, but whatever happened to the world of the main character, Tanoor, it\u2019s not good. Humanity is down to one village in a poisoned world full of mutants. Life does not seem to be getting any better,\u00a0until a stranger arrives who can grow life out of death.<\/p>\n
