Every hero knows that evil doesn’t take vacations. Comics warn us that when the forces of justice\u00a0eat too much turkey and take a nap, villains prepare to strike. But at Biowars<\/a> we’ve assessed the threats for you and come up with the five\u00a0greatest perils this\u00a0holiday season.<\/p>\n

#5 Every Christmas card in the city suddenly\u00a0being rendered blank<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Batman: The Brave and the Bold #12<\/em><\/a> featured this terrifying scenario, in which\u00a0Calendar Man had\u00a0the power to physically erase every Christmas card in Gotham with the push of a button. How he thought of this dastardly plan\u2014let alone built his doomsday device\u2014is not\u00a0explained, but the threat is clear. When Batman uncovers his plot\u00a0and is about to stop him, planet Earth suddenly explodes. That’s about the time things start to get really strange.<\/p>\n

#4 Zombie outbreak<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As the name would suggest, Marvel Zombies Christmas Carol<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is A<\/em>\u00a0Christmas Carol …\u00a0<\/em>with zombies. In this interpretation\u00a0of Dickens’ tale, Ebeneezer Scrooge has a lot less\u00a0time to meditate on the true meaning of Christmas, due to\u00a0the gathering army of undead threatening not only the holidays, but all of London. And so the fate of the world comes to depend\u00a0on a man who probably has more in common with the zombies.<\/p>\n

#3 Melting of the North Pole<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This was the danger\u00a0facing Earth in the Larfleeze Christmas Special<\/em>. Larfleeze, always-greedy alien and foe\u00a0of the Green Lantern Corps, learns about\u00a0Santa for the first time, and decides to present him with a very long list of demands. When\u00a0Santa fails to meet any of them, Larfleeze decides to get his revenge by destroying Santa’s home. Worse, he decides that\u00a0melting the polar ice cap is the only way to really make sure he’s finished the job. The Green Lantern Corps stopped him that time, but there are no guarantees we’ll be so lucky again.<\/p>\n

#2 Martian invasion<\/strong><\/h3>\n

As if Santa didn’t have his hands full\u00a0on Christmas already, in Santa Claus vs the Martians<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>he’s also<\/em>\u00a0called upon\u00a0to halt a Martian invasion, sending his (donkey-powered) sleigh up against terrifying tripod-like Martian walkers modeled on H.G. Wells’\u00a0The\u00a0<\/em>War of the Worlds.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

#1 Nuclear armageddon<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Everyone’s ultimate Christmas fear. And in\u00a0Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special, <\/em>we’re sorry to say it becomes a reality. Earth’s problems begin when\u00a0the Easter Bunny pays Lobo to do a hit on Santa Claus<\/a>. After traveling to the North Pole and slaughtering\u00a0Santa\u2019s elves, Lobo proceeds around the world in Santa\u2019s sleigh, dropping A-bombs as he goes. We’re sure there’s\u00a0a Christmas lesson in this story somewhere.<\/p>\n
