\"Supervillain<\/a><\/p>\n

Bane<\/h2>\n

Born for the sole purpose of serving a life sentence in the place of his father, Bane<\/a> spent his childhood in the brutal prison Pe\u00f1a Duro on the island of Santa Prisca. From the age of six, Bane relentlessly trained his mind and his body to the peak of human potential. After becoming top dog amongst the prisoners when he reached his prime, Bane was forced to undergo an experiment involving the super-steroid Venom. The drug granted him incredible strength, but required Bane to inject more every twelve hours lest he suffer from extreme withdrawal.<\/p>\n

In the \u201cKnightfall<\/a>\u201d storyline, Bane sets his sights on Batman, whom he believes his dreams have been leading him to attack. Instead of attacking Batman directly Bane freed many of Batman\u2019s greatest foes, including the Joker, from Arkham Asylum. After spending months rounding up his escaped enemies, an exhausted Batman returned to the Batcave to find Bane waiting for him, as the villain had deduced Batman\u2019s true identity. The two fought, and when Bane gained the upper hand, he broke Batman\u2019s spine, leaving him temporarily crippled and unable to act as Batman.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Colossus<\/a><\/p>\n

Colossus<\/h2>\n

Piotr Rasputin<\/a> was born on a collective farm in the Soviet Union, where he was content to live in peace with his family and use his power to coat himself in super-strong organic steel to aid those of the collective. When Professor X contacted him to join the All-New All-Different X-Men to aid in the rescue of the original team, Colossus agreed and helped to defeat the living island, Krakoa. Since the original X-Men left to form X-Factor, Colossus stayed on as a member of the X-Men alongside fellow future mainstays including Storm, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine.<\/p>\n

While Colossus fought alongside the X-Men in countless battles, his greatest moment of heroism was an act of sacrifice, not violence. After years of research and consulting the notes of Moira MacTaggert, Beast finally discovered a cure for the deadly mutant-targeting Legacy Virus. Unfortunately, the cure would prove fatal for the first mutant to take it before becoming airborne and spreading throughout the world. Instead of waiting for a newer version of the cure (costing more lives in the time that would take), Colossus chose to give his only life so that no other mutants would have to die of the Legacy Virus.<\/p>\n
